Explore the ancient cities of the world

One of the most underappreciated parts of luxury travel, whether domestically or in another country, is the part where the ancient ruins, formations, or edifices of a particular destination are explored. For some tourists, this is the part of their vacation that they look forward to the least, but they still choose because it is part of their overall trip. What we often overlook is the part where seeing these destinations with our own eyes gives us a glimpse into what life used to be like. We hope to do justice to some of the world’s most fascinating and historically rich cities.

Machu Picchu in Peru. These ancient Inca ruins are usually touted for their mystical beauty and borderline darkness. While it’s true that the ruins are beautiful (the Incas are famous for their mysterious walls, after all), it’s the things we don’t see that make them all the more interesting. Here’s a tip: To better appreciate your trip to this ancient city, schedule a tour of its secret museum – Museo Sitio Manuel Chávez Ballón. Make sure this is a side trip if you are not part of the all inclusive travel deals.

Angkor Wat in Cambodia. The sacred temples in this city are just part of the package of one of the most amazing destinations in the world. This historical site was built hundreds and hundreds of years ago and was dedicated to the Hindu God Vishnu, and must be really favored by the Gods for its utter perfection in terms of balance and proportion. With its beauty, Angkor Wat really served one of its purposes, which is to become a model for the cosmic world on earth.

Mont Saint Michel in France. Speaking of beautiful places of worship, this stunning edifice on the border of France is also a contender. In the old days, monks would look for a secluded place – preferably an elevated place so that they could physically get closer to God. The monastery on top of this ‘mountain’ is where it is believed that Archangel Michael took a bishop to build a high and mighty church, which led to this amazing church.

Teotihuacan in Mexico. In this ancient city, you will find pyramids of great beauty like those in Giza. Indeed, one of them, the Pyramid of the Sun, has almost the same base as the Pyramid of Cheops. Aside from the outstanding architecture, these structures are also a testament to the breadth of the ancient people of Mexico’s knowledge of astronomy. The Pyramid of the Sun sits in the center of all the other structures, interestingly reflecting the solar system.

If you are wondering why Rome is not part of this list, it is because there is so much to learn about the city and an excerpt will not do justice to what it has to offer. Check out this article for a list of places you must see when luxury travel to Rome!
